You can’t really get anything more beautiful and ethereal and tapped into the somewhere and something else of simple genius than the music of Nick Drake.
Two worth a mention by Martyn Bennett. From his album Grit, Blackbird: I love how he manages to capture the essence of a bagpipe’s sound, without the bagpipes themselves. (He was too weak from chemotherapy at the time he made the album Grit, which he realized was very probably his musical epitaph.) From his self titled first album, I point to Erin. I linked to pages that have soundclips of both songs. (Track 2 is Erin on the Martyn Bennett album page.)
Pink Floyd - Wot’s…uh the Deal? Amazing instrumentation, haunting lyrics, and the Remeber That Night DVD version adds an extra layer of beauty for me, due to the interaction between Dave and Rick. Watch here.
Well, I am very happy to see you guys/ladies enjoying the thread. What is really interesting here are all the different opinions of what consititutes beautiful to them. By the way I like Eva Cassidy as well. Very sweet voice.
One of my newest favorites is “I Didn’t Know I’d Love You So Much” from Repo! The Genetic Opera, sang by Anthony Stewart Head and Alexa Vega. A tender father/daughter duet.
