I found a link that says one of those sold in 2003 for U$1.25 million or thereabouts. Would that include the floor mats? ---

As far as production cars go, this is the top 10: 1 Saleen S7 (395.000 dollar) 2 Bentley Azure Cabrio Mulliner (376.485 dollar) 3 Rolls-Royce Corniche Cabrio (363.990 dollar) 4 Lamborghini Murciélago (273,000 dollar) 5 Aston Martin Vanquish (228.000 dollar) 6 Ferrari 575 M Maranello (215.000 dollar) 7 Porsche GT2 (180.665 dollar) 8 BMW Z8 (130.645 dollar) 9 Mercedes-Benz CL 600 (119.595 dollar) 10 Jaguar XKR 100 Coupe and Cabrio (98.330 dollar) Of course there are custom-built cars around which cost many times more, but this is mostly due to gold-plating, stretching, installing jacuzzi’s, etc. Some exotic, hand-crafted sports cars might be more expensive too, but those aren’t production cars IMHO. (Hint: try and buy a Koenigsegg. THEY will charge you.) NB the mclaren F1 is no longer for sale (limited production). Now they have developed and produce the amazing Mercedes SLR McLaren. ---

It would be a classic car, either a Bugatti, (french btw), Hispano Suiza or possibly a Ferrari, (…my name is Ferrari, it means “Smith”). …Except if you include stuff like Formula 1 ‘cars’, which cost a ton, even if they don’t weigh it. ---

Please be more specific. The highest price ever payed for a car? The most expensive production car? right now, or ever? (adjusted for inflation?) The highest asking price for a car? (if so, I’m willing to sell you a matchbook car for $100 quadrillion) Are trucks, vans, etc eligiable? I’m guessing tanks aren’t but what about “armored cars”? Brian ---

I meant it as in the highest price ever payed for a car. (particularily luxury or sports car) ---

If you are talking about collectors paying outrageous prices for a vehicle just so they can add them to their collection then it could get really high. Just off the top of my head I seem to recall a man paying like a million and a half for an old Dusenberg recently. Seems like a car once owned by the Beatles went pretty high as well. I think I’ll dig for some cites if this is what you’re asking. ---
