What is the most realistic take in comics of what would happen if a real world "super" appeared?

The New Statesmen , way back in '88 had genetically modified humans that had super powers . It was an attempt at a realistic superhero story. It was set in 2047 and seamed as realistic as reasonable given the subject matter.

I seam to remember I really liked Jim Baikies art , but cant find any samples on line from the New Staesmen

Grant Morrison made his bones on the late 80s 2000AD strip Zenith*, which provided an excellent take on traditional superhero tropes: rather than being a steely-eyed lantern-jawed upholder of virtue, the eponymous Zenith was a Celebrity, a rather dim, shiftless, self-centered pop star media brat. Unfortunately he was also the only extant person possessed of super-powers, so when Nazi Elder Gods came calling, he was our first line of defence.

*Recently back in trade print after a couple of decades in litigation limbo over publication rights. Well worth checking out.

I loved Jim Baikie’s work on Judge Dredd. In The Bath was a stone classic.

Here’s some Jim Baikie New Statesmen. Man, I used to own all this stuff.
