I did an Alta-Vista search and it seems to be of British origin and appears to mean something along the lines of “tough cookies,” “so, there” or “suck it up” possibly with an “I told you so” thrown in.

Does anybody know where it actually started; maybe a show or comedy routine?

After checking several sources, I can definitely say that the source is \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_. According to\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_this began back in \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ and was later altered by the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_to its current usage as \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_.

Any questions?

Oh, sure. Beat up the new guy. This topic was obviously posted in error. The corrected version appears elsewhere in this forum, under the title [What is the origin of “ya, boo, sucks!”](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=24073). I’ll lock this version so that answers can be concentrated in the correct place.

Ya bunch of wise guys. 😉
