The theme from Welcome Back Kotter tops them both
A 70s song that is the opposite of a ship that sinks.
That would be a 70s song about a ship that floats down from outer space to earth.
I nominate “Starman” by David Bowie (From Ziggy Stardust 1972)
It’s a message about aliens who are ready to land their ships if young people can sparkle for them.
Over a hundred posts, and no one’s mentioned Maria Muldaur’s Midnight At The Oasis?
ooohhh! I just thought of another one!
“Horse with no Name”, or anything else by America.
Soft, mellow, laid-back,…but ,ya know,…deep, man, deep.
You could look for meaning while you were passing the joint.
Ah, roller skating parties in seventh grade. Memories…!
It’s got to be either “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl”) or “Afternoon Delight.”

Stayin’ Alive!
Yeah, when I read the thread title the first song that came to mind was Stayin’ Alive.
Something by Boney M, Rasputin, Daddy Cool, that kind of thing.
Spill the Wine by Eric Burdon and War.

Almost anything by James Taylor, but I’ll go with - You’ve Got a Friend.
Commodores - Brick House
There’s got to be a morning after!

For me, it’s England Dan and John Ford Coley’s “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight.” It’s just so 70s.
For the record, I really like the song. It’s mellow, fun to sing along with, the lyrics have a wonderful mondegreen, and it’s all cool, man.
God, that’s an awful song. I had never heard it until a couple of months ago, but it’s just awful.
What th… I… um… WHAT??
Not only that, but remember Soul Asylum? They covered that song.
That is the proper reaction to hearing many songs from the seventies.
