What is THE quintessential 70's song?

“Paradise by the Dashboard Light” was the ultimate 70s song.

I’m voting for “Afternoon Delight” as the quintessential 70s song.

Though I am reminded of a young boy named Michael who had a roller skate key.

Someone mentioned Wildfire so how about…

Shannon

Also one of my very favorites…

Cinderella by Firefall

Actually anything by Firefall

Here here for Marvin Gaye.

Any reason why a 70s song has to be cheesy?

It just means that there is a lot of finger pointing and superiority involved.

Anything non-ironic?

I apologize if someone has already posted these examples for I did not go through the entire thread.

“I’d Really Love To See You Tonight”- England Dan and John Ford Coley

Anything hit by Seals and Crofts, Jim Croce.

Disco was disco, same with punk, glam rock, early new wave and funk. They are culturally part of the 70’s, but the average seventies was really light rock, perhaps folk.

That’s how I picture the decade, mind you I as born in Dec 1986.

My favorite song of his, love that guitar intro.

The Diesel song is from 1981, I know because I did a series polls of number 1 songs from Canada and it was included in the '81 poll.

Knew it, beat me to it,
