What is the significance of your username?

Mine is acutally a misspelling of my maiden name and my married name together. If I ever actually go back to school and get a PhD, I’m going to start hypheating and not care if people get the maiden name part wrong.

Mine is a conbination of my 2 dog breeds -

PAP illons and Gordon SETT ers

It is the main character from The Man Who Never Missed. I was feeling lazy when I joined and picked a book at random off the shelf and grabbed a name.

Lamar Mundane

The user name comes from a board I used to be on relating to Hawaiian politics: William Quinn was the last appointive and the first elected Governor of Hawaii.

I love Calvin and Hobbes. Susie Derkins is Calvin’s long-suffering neighbor/classmate.

Lumpy is short for Lumpenprole, a term from Marxism for the social class of:

“marginal and unemployable workers of debased and irregular habits, and including paupers, beggers and thieves”.

I’m a big J.R.R. Tolkien fan. In his books, Elendil was one of the great Kings of Men in ancient times, and was slain while fighting the Dark Lord Sauron (see the first five minutes of “The Fellowship of the Ring”). I’d be honored - and very surprised! - to actually be a descendant of his. If he weren’t, you know, fictional and all.

Mr. Blue Sky and Susie Derkins, I recognized the references made by both your names - and commend you for them!

It’s my name in real life.

My .sig in the early days of the internet (back when everyone was using unix) was “electrical engineer, computer geek (er, programmer) and no talent bum musician”, which I think sums me up about as well as any one line description could. When I signed up for a yahoo account many years later, the closest I could get to that was engineer_comp_geek. I didn’t even have enough letters available to spell out “computer”. I kept the same name when I signed up here.

I love books and was born in 1957
Boring yes but true.

I love to sing, so I entered the word “singer” into a thesaurus and “chanteuse” was my favorite synonym.

I used to be Mayflower, because I was born in May, but after having that name in various forms on lots of different sites, I got tired of it and the mods here were kind enough to grant me a name change!

A friend once told me I was a good egg, and I just liked the moniker.

I earned the title “Oven Wench” while working at a pastry bakery. At home, the whole kitchen is my domain, hence Kitchen Wench. I’m also a pretty good cook.

Before I had my named changed to KW, I was Seeker74. I got it from the Who song, The Seeker + my birth year. It seemed no one got the reference, and it was boring and not very memorable. I’m pleased to report that I’m not as ignored now with the new pseudonym.
