In his magnificent book “The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression,” Andrew Solomon writes about attempting suicide by seeking anonymous homosexual unprotected sex (this was the 1980s), but then stopped when he realized he only wanted to get AIDS, not transmit it unknowingly as well.
