What is The Wall to you?

I thought of “off the wall”. I’m not sure what wall that would be.

The Michael Jackson album?
In my case, the Wall is first Pink Floyd, second the Green Monster (which is called the Wall often enough that the Red Sox mascot is called Wally), and everything else a distant third.

My first thought was the Michael Jackson album, then it went to the general term “off the wall”.

Amusing combination of user name and post.

Speaking of Boston, there’s the green monster at Fenway.

Up Against the Wall, [insert epithet here]
Flowers on the Wall (Statler Bros)
Tear Down the Walls (Fred Neil)
59 Other Songs About Walls

Okay, back to OP and what comes to mind. Berlin Wall and German Fence first. The orange terror’s attempted wall next. Up Against the Wall Motherfucker is a strong third. Pink Floyd drags in afterward. YMMV.

The last few lines of Pink Floyd The Wall:
“…and some stagger, and fall.
After all, it’s not easy
Beating your heart against some mad bugger’s wall.”

Until the pandemic, I was thinking of these words a lot.

This vertical flat thing next to me that prevents me from walking into the neighbor’s condo.

To me, it’s originally the Berlin Wall, which I remember seeing fall as a kid in the late '80s.

It is also the DMZ between the Koreas, which I saw in 2014. Had the opportunity to visit the JSA, so I took the trip.

Tripler
Pink Floyd was always a *commentary on the Berlin Wall to me.
