It may very well be that TN\*Hippie intended to be humorous via the way that the two words sounded, but I think his choice of jokes was unfortunate. Equating a guy with a German accent and ancestry with Nazis via the use of “swastika” just isn’t funny. ---

I agree. I think the reason people think you’re kneejerking is because apparently calling all Germans or people even sounding German NAZIs is still funny and/or acceptable. It’s in fact true (and I don’t have a cite) that Arnold has said that his desire to donate money to so many charities and get involved in American politics is as a result of his feeling guilty that some of his ancestors were indeed NAZI, and I don’t think he’d find your joke funny. Also, as much as you’d like to believe it, just because some one is a Republican, Lissener, doesn’t mean they lean towards Nazi beliefs. Just a tip. j ---

Thanks, jarbaby, but I didn’t imply that I agreed with the joke, I was only explaining it. And I’m cynical enough to believe that Ahnold’s sympathy for gay issues is colored by the fact that he was at least partailly supported in his younger days by the occasional muscle-worshipping sugar daddy. And no, I’m not saying he’s gay. In the bodybuilding world it’s called “gay for pay.” ---
