Oooh! Oooh! I’ll share. [These](http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/strangelove1972/album?.dir=134e) are of my dogs and cats. If you look through the whole album you’ll notice an abundance of white cat pics. They are of 3 different cats. The disheveled looking one was Bean. He died last year. ☹ I loves my babies. ---

okay - I’ve been giving it some thought, and I believe there is a correlation between intelligence and pet ownership. Afterall, Dopers are intelligent, and most of us, if not all of us, own some type of pet. Cats do seem to be predominant, with dogs nipping at there heels (metaphorically, only, of couse) Intelligent humans appreciate intelligent animals. When I was a kid we had cats and dogs, when I moved out my roommate had a cat, I took a cat from my insane ex girlfriend because she was too stupid to take care of it, my wife brought cats with her when we started living together, cats cats cats. I like cats, I really do, but I have to say this: Cats are stupid. Really, really stupid. They’re not as dumb as, say, mice, but anyone who thinks they’re really intelligent animals is either fooled by their elegance and poise or is just fooling themselves. Cats are simple-minded, mean, predatory little animals who happen to be graceful and elegant-looking because stealth is critical to their survival. In terms of cranial capacity they’re just as dumb as dumb can be. They’re popular not because they’re smart but because they’re as common as hell and they’re cheap to take care of. The popularity of cat ownership, or pet ownership in general, has squat to do with how smart someone is. ---

Cats may be stupid, but their particular flavour of stupidity is endearing. Also, the preponderance of cat lovers here has an opportunity to increase (for those with means, anyway) since the world’s first genetically-engineered hypoallergenic cats are [now shipping](http://www.local6.com/news/9923915/detail.html). There’s a waiting list, though. ---
