“Religion” in the poll above can mean too many different things, but mine is the good ol’ pre-Trib Rapture one.
Alas, I think if there is a future Tribulation/AntiChrist, the Rapture will be late in the Tribulation. I would much prefer too be Raptured beforehand, of course.
Robots. How can you do a poll like this and forget robots? Y’all are just sitting there watching AMC and thinking, “Man, I really wish Carl would just go ahead and get eaten” while your roomba is plotting against you.
The British military already put a small fleet of space robots in orbit and named it Skynet. They say the satellites are for “strategic communication services” but we all know that what they’re really doing is looking for Sarah Connor.

I’ll vote for the Cubs winning the World Series. That event would almost surely presage an apocalypse of epic proportions. :eek:.
I have a sticker on my lectern that says “The hardest thing about a Zombie Apocalypse will be pretending I’m not excited.”
Just be grateful you didn’t see the earlier (?1950s) movie. It was woeful and not at all faithful to the book.
I’m for any apocalypse that results in dropping a planet on Kirsten Dunst.
I haven’t seen the whole film, but I also like the more lighthearted version ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ and the classic “When Worlds Collide”. Basically what I call a “slow apocalypse”. Everyone knows it’s coming. Every night they can stare up into the sky and see it coming. But there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. No Bruce Willis asteroid-killing missions. No secret underground government shelters. The world may not end tomorrow, but it is definitely ending in a few weeks or months.
I would like to see a end of the world film with a black hole instead of an asteroid or rogue planet.
What about accelerating technology? Suitcase nukes, gene-splicing at home, and yes, nanotech, etc. But not to the point of Grey Goo - just to some huge event. A nanobot virus - where medical nanobots designed to fix something inside us get hacked to destroy that thing instead, and gets used for a terrorist event and gets out of control. That sort of thing. Pleasant - ugh.
I chose ‘Extra Terrestrial’, but for the same type of event: asteroid impact. SeeLucifer’s Hammer.
And we all know what Google is up to.
Nibirucomes along unannounced, and does one of two things: 1) Collides with the Earth, causing another extinction, and perhaps a new satellite to keep the shattered earth company, 2) Smashes into the Sun, which causes the Sun to emit a flare so powerful it essentially melts the earth.
Would be cool to watch the earth getting blown away like a football in a nuclear blast.
I, for one, will welcome our new alien overlords!
