What is your favorite keyboard shortcut that almost nobody uses?

I just remembered one that I use all the time in MS Word and in some email programs. <Shift><F7> brings up a thesaurus for the word your cursor is currently on. (<F7> will check spelling; but since Word puts the squiggly line under misspelled words, I never actually use that one)

From Shoeless, post #15:

Oh joy! Thank you thank you thank you Shoeless!

Holy crap, I didn’t even know Word had a thesaurus. That. Is. Awesome.

I discovered a really awesome one by accident: select text in one window, go to another window, position the cursor where you want it, and click with the middle button on the mouse. Works best with live focus. Sadly, it was not practical for me to do much work in that particular environment, because I would have gone to town with that.

Caps lock can be useful when making notes on someone else’s document and you prefer not to use the insanely complex MS Word annotation system.
ALSO IN CASES WHERE YOU’RE MAKING NOTES IN REPLY TO TEXT NOT IN A DOCUMENT–FOR EXAMPLE AN EMAIL.

You mean that one where you click the Comment button and you type in your comment? Or the one where you click Track Changes and it highlights the new text you type? “Insanely complex”?

Perhaps “difficult to follow and non-intuitive to use” would have been more accurate, or just “it sucks.” However, while we can agree to differ on that, my point still applies to annotating text in an email.

I have two keyboard layouts installed on my machine: QWERTY and Dvorak Simplified (US and DV, respectively).

When I’m using the computer, it’s Dvorak. But when my stepfather is using it, it’s always QWERTY.

Ctrl+Shift keeps the peace between us. Of course, shifting from Dvorak to QWERTY and back is my job. Fair enough, given that my stepfather paid for the computer.
