One of the things that got me hooked to The Dope is the interesting reading of the threads and topics, whether it be some of the more intellectually stimulating subjects, the outright outrageous, or the downright funny ones. Every once in a while I will throw a subject in the search line to see if it has been talked about and have found some that are quite intriguing. I thought maybe some of you have your favorite all time threads that you might be willing to share. So, what is your favorite (or ‘are your favorites’ if you have more than one) thread from the Straight Dope? ---

I know he didn’t really fit in here but **ThaiDog** did have that unusual something that I think merited bending the rules just for him so he could share his version of reality from time to time. “I Shit On My Father-in-Law” in which a Doper had an unfortunate accident during a bit of amature plumbing. Heh. I also enjoyed Wifton Polekitty’s account of his unfortunate encounter between a portion of his anatomy and a sock drawer that was closed a little too quickly. Heh, heh. ---

I’ve got a nominee, but I think the thread itself got purged quite some time ago. It dates back to fairly early days on the board. Moderators, if I have the text of what was once a thread on the board, and it was not locked in its original incarnation (nor were warnings issued), can I repost it for posterity? ---

OK, here we go. There’s a backstory on it: there had been a thread just prior to this one in which **Mullinator** had posted **“Hey Everybody, Get your Excellent Dutch Curses in Here, Courtesy of Clog Boy”** , or some such thing, and invited board members to make their requests which (promised **Mullinator** ) would be honored by **Coldfire**. \* So **Mullinator** gets to find this waiting for him one day… (removed link) - At least one such thread, possibly some back-and-forth volleying, and also some off-board stuff in the SDMB IRC# chat room. The “Coldfire-Mullinator wars”. ---

The recent thread about the origin, and correct wording of “abandon all hope ye who enter here.” In which welcome to wallmart is offered as a wording, the subtleties of the original language are discussed, and a link is offered to a site with g-strings adorned with said phrase, my kinda Dope ---

He did go back to Russia one more time, in hopes of meeting a girl that would suit. Dropped another $6000 and came up empty. _Is he still doing bee-sting therapy?_ Most certainly! He’s become quite evangelical about it, claiming that the much of the woes of the world’s health care systems would be solved if more people got stung by bees. _Did he get more cats?_ I don’t know. I haven’t been back to his house and the subject is not easily broached in casual conversation. He does have a new “Enjoy Health, Eat Your Honey” bumper sticker on his truck.
