_Horse with No Name_ Everything done by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap Definitely _Proud to be and American_ Anything with spoken lyrics, especially when the speaker is trying for sexy or ardent or some over-the-top emotion. I avoid hearing all of these and others that haven’t come to mind at the moment by listening to the local classical station. It saves my sanity. ---

I know that Nickelback rightfully gets shat upon by all, but how is it that the walking, talking pair of bumper nuts known as Kid Rock isn’t right there with them? Who are the fans of this crap? ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ by Chris Rea. For some reason, it simply enrages me. A few of the more recent Christmas glurge songs (I can’t think of the titles) are maddening. But I’m a bitter old damaged curmudgeon who hates holidays. ---

I have very limited radio options at work through the company website. I generally listen to the classic rock station, and invariably when I start thinking “ugh, what is this trash?” it’s the Grateful Dead. So I’ll nominate their entire ouevre. Wonderful Christmas time is also a really good call. ---

“Piano Man” by Billy Joel. Bad enough that it’s full of trite characters, but then one of those characters tells the piano man (Joel) that he’s too talented to be playing there. Ego much? Also, any song that drunken partiers feel compelled to sing along with: “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Sweet Caroline,” etc. ---

He is a national embarrassment to all of us Detroiters. ‘All Summer Long’ is also pretty bad, managing in one song to rip off both ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘Werewolves of London’. But yeah, that song is full-blown self-parody. ---

**Riders on the Storm - The Doors** Trite middle school poetry lyrics, there are not enough drugs on this Earth for me to care about that song. In fact, the lyrics are really just a list of phrases and slant rhymes that make me stabby, I am convinced Jim wrote this song to piss me off. There are worse songs, but not worse songs I hear frequently. ---

Excluding jingles (which have their own special circle in Hell - I’m looking at you, LibertyLiberty Liberty Liberty), the most annoying song in my opinion would be _Achy Breaky Hear_t by Billy Ray Cyrus And I will heartily second the nomination for _God Bless the USA_. ---

Okie From Muskogee. I still hate it, but the singing, musicianship and melody are top notch. Just didn’t like the lyrics. Pretty funny hearing them sung by the future and present dope smoker Willie Nelson. For all we knew about Merle Haggard, 'ol Merle was toking right there w/ Willie. I much preferred that song by Charlie Daniels where he sings “If you don’t like the way I’m livin, just leave this long haired, country boy alone”. Now, of course, he’s apparently gone full on right wing. ---

Any song by Pink Floyd\*. If I am at the top of a 30 foot ladder, and a Pink Floyd song comes on the radio, I will climb down the ladder and change the station. Or turn it off. I do this for my own safety, else I will feel the urge to jump if I am subjected to the entirety of a Pink Floyd song. \*With the exception of their first album, which was brilliant. ---
