I just remembered. Many, many years ago I found a record by The Intruders in a record fair. I had it in my mind (wrongly) that The Intruders were an old ska band, so I bought it. Trite, insipid, sickly, overproduced, gimmicky - and these are it’s _good_ points. The astonishingly awful spoken sections set it apart from pretty much any other record I’ve ever heard. It’s so bad, I treasure it. It’s so bad that, years later, when I found _another_ copy at a record sale, I bought that as well. Kind of doing my bit for the mental wellbeing of mankind. Oh, and that summer that I had to share my bedroom with my cousin. I do enjoy silence, but he really liked his music, so he was contantly playing his favorite new album, _Fly Like an Eagle_ by the Steve Miller Band, every night.        Every track on that album sucks bigly. It is just awful. And I thought, “well, maybe the music is bad because I resent having to share my space with him,” until he brought home _Tales of Mystery and Imagination_ by the Alan Parsons Project – after hearing and appreciating that, I concluded that the Steve Miller stuff was in fact, of its own accord, bad. ---

I just can’t leave this thread without seconding Kars for Kids as THE song I simply must mute or change the channel. That’s especially true now that I’ve read a bit about the organization behind it. I understand that it’s a jingle, not a “real” song, but it’s just so bad . . . There are plenty of other very good suggestions here, but I have to disagree with someone’s nomination of “anything by Pink Floyd.” ---
