You could write a list of sites with an oblique hint (the first word of the phrase, or a related phrase) for each.

For instance, if I used these passwords (and the mnemonic system I described in my earlier posts – first letter followed by letter count for each word, nouns uppercase, keep punctuation):

SDMB: d4w8a1S6c3 (mnemonic: does whatever a spider can)
Bank: i2y3v5y4L5,b2s9e4 (mnemonic: if you value your lives, be somewhere else)
HR Self-Service: I1a2n3a1C5 (mnemonic: I am not a crook)

I could jot down hints:

SDMB: Spidey
Bank: Delenn
HR Self-Service: Nixon

That would be enough to identify which of my mnemonics goes with which site, without giving all that much of a hint to anyone else (especially if I chose more obscure mnemonics in the first place).

We have to use rotating passwords to access the computers where I work; my passwords are the states and the nine digit zip codes of places where I’ve lived. States and nine digit zip codes of where my relatives live were added when the size of the rotation was increased.

I like to use obscure dates that only I would know like my first kiss, first date with my third boyfriend, breakup date with some idiot, etc. Throw in the initials of the person involved, and it’s a pretty secure password. It’s really easy for me to remember, but no one other than me actually would know those dates.

Because of where I work, I have about 12, to get into the different systems. Therefore when I need to generate one of my own, I have the same pass code, just up it by the numbers each time.

eg. 3want14million1T7

(three want 14 million in the lotto)

clearly that’s not a password that i use any more
