Forced choices (late to the party). Haven’t taken the poll yet (and probably will look at both versions). I learned a lot just reading over the definitions. Y’all understand that pulling a voting lever is a forced choice? And that surveys are designed to illuminate how one might behave when faced with a forced choice? Consider it an opportunity to reflect on your inner self.

The characterization of the SDMB (not scientifically selected) is not inconsistent with the impression gained after reading a few hundred posts. Some of all types, skewed left.

> Ah well, what a crappy quiz. I new that this was not the real questionnaire they used to create their typology, but I thought it would be a bit more accurate at placing random people into the groups available. But, let’s face it, this quiz sucked.

Why do you say that?

Solid Liberal. No surprise there. I don’t understand the rant about this not being the original survey. After all, it WAS published by Pew, Understanding that this quiz is not a scientific survey, I will take their word that the results show where I would have fallen in their typology study.

Excellent point about the inadequacy of the one-dimensional political spectrun.

Sign me Lonely Liberal in SC.

I re-took this survey on the bump and got the same result (post-modern). Here’s to test-retest validity.

I’d have to say it fits me pretty well. I’m very pro-capitalist, but I believe in the government leash on the big dog of corporate America.

Though I believe in the ability of social services to effect a positive change, almost everyone I know who relies on them (outside of the disabled) really should be making better life choices. When I can get laid off and find a better job in 72 hours, I have a hard time seeing how anyone can stay unemployed and on assistance for months or years.

I believe in the positive power of immigration, especially since a local restaurant has recently fired most of its immigrants and seen the service level drop precipitously. Honestly, I don’t believe in birthright. Merit is much better.

I utterly believe in access to marriage and abortion on demand.

Yep, post-modern for me.
