# What is your preferred writing pen?

Pilot G2. I also customize them with beadwork and sell them for pin-money (pen! Ha!). The one I have in my purse has a beaded sleeve with my name on it. Black medium point. I also remember reading somewhere that the ink is difficult to wash off for check counterfeiters, so it is the only pen I use when I write checks. Someone upthread mentioned mechanical pencils, and my favorite for the last 30 years has been the Pentel P205, 0.5mm, HB lead.

I don’t use them often enough to know the name, but I prefer gel pens for anything remotely fancy. Every ball-point pen I’ve ever used always leaves a rough texture behind.
Oh, and if pencils were permanent, I’d prefer them.

Oh yes, Pilots are smooth writers. The Dr. Grip is a good pen too. Some of the staff in my department request them specifically, especially if they’ve got tendon or joint problems.

I like Uni-ball, but I think Pilots are smoother writers. And the Uni-ball is capped, isn’t it? I want a retractable so I can use one hand to whip my pen out and get it operational.

I usually use the Precise V5 in blue, mainly because we use them at work. Although I recently bought a pack of [TUL gel ink](http://www.tul.com/retractablegelpen.php) pens which are fairly snazzy.

The Pilot G’s and Q’s use indelible ink. Good luck getting an ink stain out of your clothing.
My fave mechanical pencil is the Papermate Clear Point. Super grip and barrel shape, and the lead advancer is under your index finger rather than the top end of the pencil.

Ah, pens. One of the main reasons I miss college is because the campus bookstore had an enormous wall of pens, all of which you were free to try out.
I don’t have one particular favorite pen. I like some variety. The one constant, however, is the Pilot brand. I love the Pilot G2, but I recently picked up a pack of the generic Walgreens knockoffs (double the pens for the same price!) and found they were better. I’m willing to admit that perhaps they are of equal quality at worst and the price makes my opinion more favorable. Either way, I’ll be getting those from now on, assuming they don’t all dry out in a week or something.

The Pilot V Pen. Even though I’m left-handed this is a fountain pen that I can use. I discovered it by accident two years ago and thought that I’d try it out. It is a beautiful, effortless pen to write with. Prior to that I was sold on various roller-tip pens.
