In my capacity as an insurance broker, I deal with people all day, every day. My previous “career” as a waiter/bartender was also public relations heavy. I am accounted very good at what I do, and my employers always comment on my public-relations abilities. Here’s the thing; I really don’t like dealing with people. At all. I just shift into automatic pilot and do it. But I’d love to have a job where I don’t have to speak to people at all (or **very** little). Any dopers out there have a job like this, or any suggestions? ---

Those guys that sit in fire stations on top of the ridgeline and watch for fires. You know those flyers for jobs where YOU CAN MAKE $$$$$ WORKING FROM HOME? I bet those jobs don’t involve much contact with people. Game warden. ---

Illustrator / commercial artist. Apart from the occasional interview with an art director, everything is done over phone, fax and e-mail. Virtually the only human contact you _have_ to make is with the UPS guy. ---

My neighbor had a business working by himself inspecting radio towers and changing their lightbulbs. He did quite well financially but quit when he started getting sloppy. You could be an Alaskan trapper or conduct Antartic penguin research. ---

my cousin does sup’m with computers. he has been at the job for 2 years and has lost almost ALL ability to make small talk and mundane chit chat. Social skills are not required for whatever it is he does infront of a pc for hours, so he does lil more than grunt now. fact checkers researchers some mechanics truck drivers construction farmers ---
