Some type of hawk/sphinx moth.

Perhaps a [Five-spotted hawkmoth](http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=3364) ?

I love the hawkmoths and will never forget the day I realized their existence. I was just settling in with a cold beer and enjoying the garden as the sun began to set when I smiled with joy as a hummingbird danced about the hibiscus… as the sun began to set.

Hello hawkmoth, hello being nicer to the hornworms…
