My husband knew a family whose last name was **Porn**. The son works in movies now. ---

There was a Vietnamese girl in my elementary school named Dung Tung. I once had a job at an HVAC repair company, one of whose customers was named Peter Dick. One day, Mr. Dick called in for an air conditioner repair and our service manager and one of the technicians were discussing what needed to be done about “Mr. Dick’s unit”. It was “Mr. Dick’s unit this and Mr. Dick’s unit that…” until I thought I was going to lose it. What finally sent me over the edge was when my manager said, “You know, Mr. Dick’s a pianist.” ---

At work, I once came across the incredibly unfortunate last name of Analick. It was actually pronounced something like a-naw-lick, but still. Can’t remember what the guy’s first name was. I bet nobody can. ---

A friend of my wife’s married a Bizwanger. That’s silly enough. But their first child (unfortunately born with what seems like a host of medical problems) has the name Achille. I guess it’s not as bad as some here, but unless some of those names turn out to be his classmates, you know he’ll get teased. I’m sure I’ve mentioned on the Dope before how my sister went to Bible camp with Anita Dyck. Dyck is quite a common Mennonite name, of which there are plenty here in S. Manitoba. (Anita never got why my sister found her name funny.) ---

I dated a Smelley in college. He didn’t want to tell me his name for a long time. My favorite junior high teacher was Miss Cripe. I liked her and would contact her if I could, but can’t find a trace! ---

A former co-worker served in the army with a guy named Phillip Glasdick. Apparently, the guy got plenty of teasing over his name. ---

My wife once refused to be seen by Dr. Graves, for superstitious reasons. My son’s G.P. is Dr. Pepper. I used to work with Fuk Yung Ho, and met his sister Suk. The weird part is that they were only half Chinese - their mother was British (and, one would assume, could recognize the connotations). They went by ‘Anthony’ and ‘Susan’. ---

Supaporn (sounds close to “Super Porn”) and Thitiporn (“Titty Porn”) are not uncommon. I pity the guys named Therdsak (very, very close to “Turd Sack”) who go abroad to study. ---

Where I used to work there was a family that would always come in and they all were kind of clueless about things. I guess you could describe it as not having “street smarts” or something like that. Their last name was Moran (pronounced moron).
