I was a little bummed that our snow day didn’t materialize beyond a delayed opening. Not that I would have tried to justify anything beyond that. But still, you get snow in Carolina, you kind of hope for more than “come in an hour late.” ---

I read a book, The Archive of Alternate Endings, last night and cried for about 2 minutes this morning when I woke up still thinking about one of the chapters. ---

Our oldest cat has been sick since before last Thanksgiving with what appears to be an upper respiratory infection. She’s on her 4th round of antibiotics and there’s little to no improvement. This is probably going to be the end of her. ---

I play a lot of Destiny 2, and saw a new post about a player who had recently died from cancer after a two year battle. His clan is doing a charity stream this weekend, and all proceeds are going to the American Cancer Association. Fuck cancer. ---

She’s got a ticket to ride, and she don’t care. Nah, I’ll tell you what made me sad the other day though. It was the last story on the evening news, the one that’s supposed to be heartwarming but never is. They showed a koala that had been rescued from the fires in Australia. The people gave it a stuffed koala and the orphan baby was so glad to see it…“Awww…” right? :dubious: I’ve been thinking about killing myself ever since. (NO, but I might send those folks an email about the definition of heartwarming). ---

I was chatting with my wife over lunch about who-knows-what, and something reminded me of my older brother who died when I was 21–I have lived longer without him than with him. I said something to her like “it’s so sad thinking about the things I have gone through in life without my brother at my side” And we quickly changed the subject before our eyes got too damp. ---

Yesterday morning the elevator in my 7 year old building stopped working (I am on the 4th floor). I called the management and later in the day it started again. We went shopping this morning and when we got back–no elevator. So we started to figure out how to schlep five or six bags of stuff up four storeys from the basement garage. Suddenly it started working and we got our stuff up. Then my wife thinks we left a bag of apples in the car. So I tried to go down to the garage. No elevator. Probably no repair before Monday. The apples will keep since the garage is held above freezing. Still bummer. ---
