What magazines do you subscribe to and why do you subscribe to them? I’ll start off with mine first to get the party started: [Harper’s](http://www.harpers.org). Overall my favorite magazine. I like the in-depth articles and the topics they cover. [The New Yorker](http://www.newyorker.com). Started getting this one on accident, actually. I enjoyed the articles and decided to get a subscription of my own. [Wired](http://www.wired.com). I got this one for free because of an already existing subscription. It’s moderately interesting, but I probably won’t resubscribe. [Chicago Magazine](http://www.chicagomag.com). I get this one because I live in Chicago and like to read about the goings on in the city. I also like it for the restaurant reviews. [U.S. News & World Report](http://www.usnews.com). I got this one for free because of an already existing subscription. So … what about you? ---

Too lazy to look up the links, but what I’ve subscribed to (and intend to resubscribe, as some have lapsed recently) are: Mac Addict Magazine. Because I’m a Machead, don’tcha know. Mac Design Magazine. Awesome magazine. Photoshop User Magazine. Part of the yearly membership to NAPP. I just let my membership lapse, but will renew eventually. The Journal for Medical Transcriptionists, published by [AAMT.org](http://AAMT.org). (I can’t even remember what it’s called. Isn’t that pathetic?) I’m studying medical transcription—something that interests me. Just subscribed the the Spanish language version of the Reader’s Digest. Because I learning Spanish (again). I think that’s it. Oh, I’m also probably going to renew my subscription to L.A. Magazine. ---

Biography - probably my favorite but sometimes the articles are too short. Also, they tend to use other magazines text to write their own articles which is annoying. Midwest Living - Well…I live in the midwest. Diabetes Outlook - Mr. Ruby’s contribution to the household mags Better Homes and Gardens - Eh. Probably won’t resubscribe Reminisce - Another favorite. It’s a magazine with stories and photos of people living in generations before us. I find it facinating to see how people lived. ---

_Playboy_ – for the articles, cartoons and naked chicks (order of importance fluctuates) _Rolling Stone_ – not as important to me as it used to be, but they got me to re-up to a long-term deal, so I think I will be getting the magazine several years after I have been dead ---

Off the top of my head: \*Smithsonian \* - for the articles; really _Newsweek_ \*Analog \* - plain old fashioned “hard” Science Fiction \*Fantasy and Science Fiction \* - for the book reviews more than anything else; I’m letting it lapse, as the quality of the writing is a little sketchy _National Geographic_ - I tried to let it lapse, and the kids revolted \*The Economist \* - for the international perspective \*Harvard Business Review \* - to impress co-workers \*CIO \* - it’s free _American Heritage \* - I think this was a school fundraiser. Some interesting little-known stuff in it \* Bible Review_ - it gets me into parts of the Bible I wouldn’t ordinarily take an interest in, and I \*\*love \*\* the cancel-my-subscription letters! Once a year I make a donation to the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburgh, just so they’ll keep sending me their quarterly journal. Densely written Liberal Lutheran Theology at its, well, densest. ---

Right now just: BeBoy Gold - a Japanese manga magazine with furigana Hanaoto - manga without furigana I used to subscribe to a lot like Harpers, Newsweek, Smithsonian, Brill’s (when it was still around) but I’ve become obsessed with learning Japanese and that’s all I read now. ---

_The New Yorker_ _Skeptical Inquirer_ to keep my sanity. All three major sf magazines, _F&SF, Analog_ and _Asimov’s_ though I don’t have time to read them much - it’s for my collection. I’ve subscribed to F&SF since 1968. At work I get a bunch of trade rags, and I get a bunch of IEEE journals on computers, test and CAD, one of which I’m on the editorial board of. I used to get Scientific American, Wired, and Games, but I got overwhelmed and cut back. I also get three newspapers every day. ---
