In “Jarhead” they are watching a movie that I know I’ve seen a couple times as a kid, but I’m not sure what the name of it is. It is a Vietnam movie and the scene shown in “Jarhead” depicts a battalion of US helicopters flying over water to lay down a rocket attack on what is presumably a North Vietnamese village or base. There is also some catchy music playing in the soundtrack. I don’t think it’s Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, or Apocalypse Now, but those movies kind of run together, so it could be one of those. Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries,” to be precise. I agree, the attack on the village is still awesome, after all these years. Just amazing. And remember: “Charlie don’t surf!” ---
