What movie have you seen in the last ten years . . .

-I can only think of Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese in “Shark Tale.” Don Lino is the scariest mob boss to date.

Lino: “I tell you what’s what, and what?”
Sykes: “What?”
Don Lino: “What what?”
Sykes: “What what nothin’. You said what first.”
Don Lino: “I didn’t say what first.”
Sykes: ‘You said "and then what?’ and I said "what?’’
Don Lino: ‘No, I said “What, what?” as in “What, what?”’
[pause]
Sykes: …‘You said what first.’

-maybe Johnny Depp in “Sweeney Todd”

Jamie Foxx in Ray.

Chadwick Boseman and Tommy Lee Jones in 42.

As mentioned, Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln, but also Jones in the same film.

I don’t think Tommy Lee Jones was in 42, was he? If you meant Harrison Ford, I would agree. That was Han Solo?

He did a good job.

Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman in “Man on the Moon”.

BTW Gary Oldman is a chameleon when it comes to roles:

As Mason Verger in Hannibal

As Zorg in The Fifth Element

As Dracula

As Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK

As Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy

Christian Bale in “The Fighter.” I didn’t even realize it was him until I saw his name in the credits.

In Django he had the make-up to help, but still Stephen’s script had some of the characteristics of “stereotype SLJ man”.

I thought he “disappeared” better in Fury. Playing a weary, tired character that just wants to be left alone. Felt very different from his other roles.

Meryl Streep was awesome in that.

Linda Hunt as Billy Kwan in The Year of Living Dangerously. At no time during the movie did I ever even suspect she wasn’t male. Note that her character was not trans; the actress was playing a male character. She got the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, but, given her performance, I always though she should have gotten Best Supporting Actor.

Absolutely.
