If you could inhabit the _milieu_ of any movie, what would it be? I don’t necessarily mean that you’d interact with the characters of the movie, but that you’d live in the same locale, deal with the same type of people, wear the same type of clothes, eat and drink what they do, etc. We’ll even, for the sake of argument, allow you to ignore any unpleasant social, political, or economic realities of the putative time and place of the movie to the same degree that they’re ignored in the movie. First one that comes to mind for me is the Scottish village of Furness in Bill Forsyth’s _Local Hero_. ---

Most any science-fiction film that takes place in a futuristic utopia (_Star Trek_) would be nice. I’d also like to live in a world where people interact with cartoons, like _Roger Rabbit, Mary Poppins_ or _Space Jam_. In novels, the world of _Dinotopia_ is VERY appealing. ---
