# What movies have been made in your neck of the woods?

_Body of Evidence_ was partially filmed in Lake Oswego, OR when I was in high school there. I recognized particular intersections in _Mr. Holland’s Opus_, set in Portland. And all Oregonians are still wondering how little Samwise Gamgee was able to see Canon Beach from Astoria.

Off-topic interjection: I and my brother were born at Deaconess, and my mom grew up in Mt Vernon. Small world.

As for the thread, OTTOMH I can think of _Cocoon_, _Lethal Weapon 3_, _Goodfellas_, _The Punisher_, and _A Time to Kill_. However, none of these were **primarily** shot here except for _The Punisher_. The rest of them were just a few scenes here and there. And of course, the other contributions from **RikWriter** and **Carm6773** … We don’t live very far apart, so I’m counting them too.

**Spiderman** filmed some exterior shots about two blocks from the theater where we viewed the movie. There was a cheer for the local shot. For those interested, when he first discovers his powers, he swinging around Forest Hills. One of the exterior shots shows a green grocer, _Natural_, where I frequently shop.

I’ve been inconvenienced by far too many movie shoots, and by self-important stars appearing on Letterman. My best friend lived one block from the Sullivan Theatre, which was directly between the subway stop and his apartment building. I bypassed a few blockades rather than go out of my way. My delusions of grandeur are much greater than theirs!
