A transvestite makes a brief appearance in _Crocodile Dundee_. CD is hanging in a bar, and initially believes the transvestite is a woman. ---

_Even Cowgirls Get the Blues_ had John Hurt as the Countess. I haven’t read the novel by Tom Robbins, so I don’t know precisely what he had in mind about this character’s gender identity. Back in the '60s, probably very few people had any idea what transgender identity meant, so I would be surprised to see it reflected in writing from that time.
