Recycled from an old discussion on another board about Vidal/Guccione’s _Caligula_, which I recently had occasion to reread. It was being debated what it would take for porn/erotica to cross the line into the mainstream, and someone opined that there’s no crossing the gulf between a movie you masturbate to and one you don’t. To which someone else claimed that’s not necessarily the most reliable rule of thumb. So can anyone name some possible examples? ---

I remember one guy writing (to _Playboy_? I don’t recall) about how he was turned off by most porn, and what really did it for him were nude scenes like the opening scenes of the original **Carrie**.
