The fall premieres are coming. As usual, most look like crap, but there are some which show potential: [**ABC**](http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/fallpreview/schedule.html) _Bob Patterson_, starring Jason Alexander as a motivational speaker who doesn’t practice what he preaches. If it lives up to its clever advertising, it ought to be funny. With Robert Klein. [**NBC**](http://nbc.com/nbc/other_nbc_shows/Primetime_Preview/primetime_preview.shtml) _Law and Order: Criminal Intent_ looks like a worthy addition to the L&O franchise, but it’s going to be on opposite _The X-Files_, so I’ll probably miss more than a few episodes. _Inside Schwartz_, a sitcom about “an athletics-obsessed sportscaster whose inner thoughts and fantasies are revealed through personal conversations with sports figures.” Looks to be a litle weird, though they’ll have to be careful with the gimmick of star athletes appearing in every episode. It’s on after _Friends_. [**CBS**](http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview/) If it weren’t for _Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker_, _CSI_, David Letterman and the NFL, I wouldn’t watch CBS at all! The only new show that shows potential is _Wolf Lake_ and it’s on opposite _Law and Order_ on NBC! [**The WB**](http://www.thewb.com/fallseason2001/) Only one new series looks promising: _Smallville_. Clark Kent before he became Superman. It looks like it will be done as a serious drama. (That is, I hope it will be.) Annette O’Toole plays Martha Kent; in _Superman 3_, she was Lana Lang. On [**UPN**](http://www.upn.com/upn.html), there is only one new show with potential: _Enterprise_. And they’ll probably blow it. One new FOX show deserves a post (if not a thread) all its own: Can you guess which one? ---

I’m looking forward to _Enterprise_ on UPN, _24_ on FOX, _Citizen Baines_ and _The Education of Max Bickford_ (2 Oscar winning actors?!) on CBS, and _Alias_ on ABC. ---

- Enterprise \* is a given. Also, I’d like to see _24_ even though I’m not a big Keifer Sutherland fan, the show show has potential. Hopefully, the network will allow the show to play the entire season (which covers exactly one day). Sorry, but I think that _Bob Patterson_ will tank just like Michael Richard’s show. Jason Alexander, IMHO, is a no-talent hack who can drag down any show he’s in. ---

I’m really looking forward to that new UPN show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And I am also eagerly anticipating The Tick on FOX, if for no other reason than I hope it will inspire someone to repeat the animated series so I can finally see/tape the six episodes I’m missing. ---

[_The Tick_](http://www.fox.com/schedule/schedule_2001.htm) is the show I most want to see. And yet, I doubt it will last more than one season because it will probably be _too_ weird for most. I give honorable mention to _24_ for having an original premise: an entire series devoted to a single day. Notice that I am NOT looking forward to any “reality” series. The one game show I saw this year that I wish was still on is _You Don’t Know Jack_ with Paul Reubens as host Troy Stevens. It wouldn’t surprise me that some viewers didn’t realize that even though the game and the contestants were real, Reubens was playing a character. Or else they thought the game was as fake as the host. ---

The new FOX show _24_ is the one I want to see. Not so much for a show that takes one season to tell…but mainly for Kiefer Sutherland. \ Ohhhhhh, yeah. Might be a slow moving season. Next year, they’ll only be on day two. And the year after that… ---

Enterprise looks like it might be decent. I’m also gonna check out 24, and Thieves. Scrubs looks like it might be good for a laugh. But overall, I’m _really_ looking forward to the second season of Dark Angel. I hate to say it, but Bob Paterson looks like it’s gonna suck. I just get a feeling of dread everytime I see the trailer for it. ---

I’m not entirely positive what network it’s on but Philly looks really good. Tom Everett Scott and Kim Delany are both good actors. Smallville looks promising as well, I just hope some Canadian network picks it up or I’m screwed. ---

In regards to the new, live-action **The Tick** I don’t get why they changed American Maid & Die Fledermaus to Captain Liberty & Batmanuel. I mean Die Fledermaus is a little obscure, but Batmanuel isn’t much clearer! From the clips it looks even better than the animated series. Which probably means it won’t last 13 episodes… ---

[/quote] FOX holds copyright on those names, Ben Edlund (or possibly New England Comics) holds copyright for the Tick and Arthur, having written them in his original comic book series. ---

I might try watching Pasadena(Balthazar Getty is in it,) Alias, Smallville and Thieves, as long as they don’t have the same time slots as any of the shows I currently watch, but they probably will. I plan to avoid Bob Patterson and all reality shows. ---

I am also looking forward to _Smallville_. I also want to see _The Mole 2_, _Survivor 3_, and _The Amazing Race_. Actually, _The Amazing Race_ started this past Wednesday. It’s pretty good. ---

The Tick is the only one that interests me, but if I know myself, I’ll never watch it. I’m glad Fox is showing its support of unusual, risky shows by sentencing to death opposite Survivor. ---
