**Otto** must be doing the evening shift. šŸ˜ƒ Or else the shows have been less than exciting to comment upon. I know that the one with Rod was, well, kind of a change of pace after all these performers/show types. A phone engineer/amateur photographer getting saved from himself by 2 strong women in his life. Pretty normal. The only really notable ā€œthings-going-wrongā€ bits were that the guys did an unusual amount of NON-intentional breakage at the start, and how Rod had to walk through the room in his towel when he ran late on his preparations. OTOH, _ā€œthe safe-word is ā€˜zucchiniā€™ā€_ just cracked me up. This week with the Korean guy and the little dog I could only catch to the point when they throw the couch out of the balcony. That was a wee bit over-the-top. But then again he was whining so much about everythingā€¦ ---

I didnā€™t catch last weeks, but last nights episode was interesting only in that it was different from most of the other episodes Iā€™ve seen. In most cases, I like the straight guy and his family and friends and I love the work the Fab Five do for him. Normally, you get to see a transformation in the guy, or his loved ones, and you think maybe the guy is turning a corner here. Last night was completely different. The still-living-in-college, 24 year old guy was a complete knob. The only time he got excited or seemed to be paying attention was when he saw he got a new 50 inch plasma screen t.v. I didnā€™t like him. I didnā€™t like his dog. I donā€™t think he got anything, other than the t.v., out of it. He wasnā€™t that clueless in the begining, he just didnā€™t seem to care. And that didnā€™t change at all. He just didnā€™t care. And, oh my god, his girlfriend is such a bitch! I donā€™t think Iā€™ve disliked someone Iā€™ve never met that vehemently since I saw Santa Sangre. Did she ever stop bitching about anything? She was absolutely horrid. All in all, a very poor episode, not because the Fab 5 werenā€™t fab, but because the guy they picked was a complete knob, his girlfriend was a bitch, and the dog shoulda been thrown out with the sofa. The only thing good about it was I got to see what happens when the whole concept of the show just goes flat. No chemistry, no results, no personality. Interesting, but if every show was like that one, Iā€™d never watch again. Unless I was in the mood to hate someone from afar. ---

As you must have noticed **Sampiro** has also started a (much more vigorous) thread specifically on this weekā€™s goings-on with James. Which BTW tends to reinforce the thesis behind my OP ā€“ that there being nothing egregiously wrong or stupid about Rodā€™s makeover last week (OK, except for the bit with the towel), it kinda paled in comparison. The public wants to see the F5 taking on outright dorks, or people in unconventional or unusual lines of work, it seems. ---
