What?! No thread about the 25th anniversary of the 1st full length Simpsons episode!

I was cleaning my house last spring and found an old TV Guide from December 1989. I was all excited because I thought it was from the week The Simpsons Premiered (weird I know but I was). Unfortunately it was from the week before. There’s really no point here but you read this; you can’t unread it.

The ironing is delicious.

It’s been an amazing run. This show was vilified when it first aired, it was clearly an attack on the family values ingrained in American society. But people watched it and got the joke, before long it was considered a wholesome embrace of those same family values. But time has been it’s enemy also, for years it’s been a second rate show re-using the same jokes and lacking in creativity. I keep watching, though I rarely pay much attention, it’s just a Sunday evening tradition. My kids were raised on it, and the whole extended family like to sit around at Christmas and talk about the show, but none of us really care about the show anymore, it’s a source of trivia and memories.
