I have a feeling ‘ancient Kryptonian explorers’ will play a part in why some people now have powers. Sort of like an X-Men mutant gene triggered by lab accidents and such.

On the one hand, I agree with you that a superhero who is a compete dick could lead to something fresh and new; \*\*\*Hancock \*\*\*tried to do it but, IMHO, threw too much into the story and screwed it up.

On the other hand, any confrontation between Gardner and Batman really has to go like this: [One punch! ONE PUNCH!](http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/One_Punch?file=Guy_Gardner_KTFO.jpg)

Guy Gardner is hardly “fresh”. His status as a dick goes back to the eighties. Nowadays so many characters have been given “gritty” reboots, being a super-powered dick is a cliche. Hell, I don’t think Mark Millar has ever written a character that isn’t a dick.

I think a Justice League Movie is a mistake. Really what people want is to see Superman and Batman in the same movie so they should just do that but first, a second Man of Steel with Lex Luthor as the villain.

Exactly. The moviegoing public gives less than two shits about Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, and the rest of the JLA. But they love Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Throw them all together (DC called this team-up “Trinity” for awhile, but “World’s Finest” works even with the introduction of Wonder Woman) and rake in the millions.

The only reason it worked with The Avengers is because Captain America and The Hulk are tier one superheroes that even people unfamiliar with comics know about. Throw in Iron Man (superpopular) and Thor (who had a well-received warm-up movie) and you’ve got a hit.

I would love for them to do a Justice League movie where they don’t even acknowledge that Superman exists for the first hour of the movie (maybe some throwaway lines - “does XYZ once and he thinks he’s Superman” or something) then just have him show up during a giant fight scene.

Which is basically what the Avengers movie did with the Hulk.

Seriously. Just those 3 together in a\* **good** \*movie will make tons and tons and tons of money. There’s no need to chase Marvel’s model for success.

I actually think Marvel’s model is gonna suffer from oversaturation very soon.

I’m trying to imagine the audience response if Henry Cavill plays a top-billed role in the Justice League movie as – the bespectacled journalist interviewing the costumed heroes.

Yes I think things are ripe for a Marvel Backlash whether it ends up being deserved or not.

I’m not even sure the Batman/Superman movie I am imagining needs Wonder Woman. I think it’s really just Batman and Superman 90% of the viewing audience cares about but yeah, it has to be good. Not a cash in. The “World’s Finest” episodes of Superman TAS would be a good template.

A Green Lantern movie would be viewed as a reboot, even if it starred a different Lantern. Thing is, the vast majority of the population doesn’t realize that there’s more than one Green Lantern. They may know of a character called Green Lantern, but as far as they’re concerned, he’s _one_ character.

One of my favorite moments on S:TAS is Ma Kent (Shelley Fabares) telling Clark to agree to an interview because “I don’t want you looking like that _nut_ in Gotham City.”

The should make World’s Finest first. That’s Superman and Batman. They could even have a paranoid prep-time Batman go up against Superman in the first act. Darwyn Cooke had a great take on that in his New Frontier one shot. Lead lined batcave, a hunk of Kryptonite Catwoman stole from Luthor for Bats, and lots of other gadgetry.

I would quite like to see a Batman/Superman fight in a movie, simply because Batman is soooo heavily outmatched, it would be interesting to see how they made it work. On paper, he has time to come up with cunning plans to fight his corner, but in the movie version, he wouldn’t have time to blink before Supes knocked him unconscious, let alone get out his secret stash of kryptonite.

And Keith Miller’s Batman Returns has Batman beat the stuffing out of Superman, because… he was prepared. At this point it’s more interesting if Superman beats Batman. But yes, a World’s Finest movie first is a great idea.
