But that’s still a few months away and he has the basics down already. [/QUOTE] Do what you think is best. I listened to all those who said, don’t potty train her! She’ll regress when the baby comes. Daughter stepped out of her diaper when my son was one week old and said “I’m not a baby!”. never looked back. She was 27 months when he was born. So, it all depends. We had moved her to her big girl bed as well, and we were concerned about all the changes–no problems (well, to speak of). Good luck! Re the jiggling. Mine preferred the ass patting–basically pounding on the diaper–#1 son would just cuddle into my neck as long as I tapped on his backside repeatedly. And swayed, side to side. I STILL find myself swaying upon occasion (and #1 son is 16). We’ll never know if Baby wanted to be jiggled that long or not…Maybe she did, maybe she didn’t. I hear you on the looking–one of my favorite phases: LOOK! I love that baby gaze-so intense, so focussed. ---

The niece is 11 months old, and taking a few steps before deciding she can’t make it to you. She always wanted some movement. She got all excited and happy when I came in sight the first half year, and not for anybody else. Nobody can figure out why. This summer you could stop the crying by holding her hands and letting her walk. She has a super large smile at that point and may even laugh. She has wanted to go outside a lot all summer. She has taken to crying at the door to go outside, and after you bring her in. She’s been eating apples from off our tree since August. At a restaurant Friday she stayed happy the whole time, and the only noise was a couple times when she was excited and did a baby laugh. She had food and a view, which was all that mattered. Words she does well are mama, dada, dog, and kitty. She can do the people growling like a dog, and the woof. ---

Grandma might have been trying to find a comfortable spot for herself, as well. Kid Kalhoun was a constant motion kind of guy. I was very small and he was a gigantic baby. I was forever shifting him around so the circulation would come back to various parts of my body! ---

I still find myself swaying a little back and forth when I stand up from a bent position (I used to sway with my son as I was putting him down in his crib, which he stopped sleeping in about four months ago). With respect to the jiggling, for his first year, my son wouldn’t fall asleep without being jiggled. Perhaps the grandmother type and mom were attempting to get the little girl to take a nap or something. Though I gotta admit, if I were that kid trying to look around only to get jiggled everytime I turned my head, I’d get ticked, too. ---
