What options are available for President Obama w.r.t. nominating a replacement for Scalia?

Whoever is nominated…the will be an ugly fight.
So I have a question about an issue which might affect just how nasty the political fighting becomes:
Is there any specific case before the court right now that is likely to be a really hot issue? (i.e. an issue that will grab headlines, and make the general public pay attention?

I’m thinking of something like Brown vs Board, or Roe vs Wade; something that will actually affect peoples’ personal lives, and become a big issue in the elections.
