We wanted an encore, despite the fact that they had played two albums in their entirety, in order (Twisted by Design and Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues). The applause and cheering and olé olé olé olé! went on for a good half hour.
They didn’t come out and play again, unfortunately, although most of the band members came out and filmed us on their phones and threw drumsticks and picks into the crowd.
Sorry for the double post, but I missed this on the first read-through.
Holy hell, yes. That wasn’t my most recent, but yes, the crowd went crazy for her, easily cheering for over a minute. People were in tears! So breathtaking!
My first instinct is “The Bishop”–and then I realized that no, that wasn’t the last thing. I went to the Chamber Music Festival more recently than that, and we applauded lots there. And then I dithered about whether I’d attended more live music since then, and couldn’t decide. Though I did attend the premiere of a movie, which may have been applauded significantly, because of the local connections.
ETA: I certainly did not time any of these bits of applause, so no guarantee on the one full minute or more bit.
Hugh Laurie at a concert a couple of months ago. He is amazing. There was so much applause in the auditorium, so loud, that I couldn’t hear it for a bit. Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band played for nearly 2 and a half hours and I could have listened to them for hours more. Just awesome.
