I’ll second bouv’s suggestion that you check out Something Awful, specifically their [Serious Hardware / Software Crap](http://forums.somethingawful.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=22) forum. It’s a busy forum, with a lot of highly technical posters. The only caution is that they have a relatively low tolerance for newbies posting threads asking for information that already exists in one of the many megathreads, so I’d expect to do far more reading than posting. On the plus side, almost anything you can think to ask has probably been covered, making it a pretty useful resource. ---
