My hubby is a CET and he wears a ring on his pinky which I believe is made out of aluminum. I know that engineers wear one that is made out of _I think_ iron (?). Are there any other ring-bearing professions out there? ---

My father and both of my elder brothers are engineers. None of them wears an iron ring. They all are married so they do wear gold rings. ---

The iron ring is a Canadian Engineering tradition. I don’t believe that other countries do it. Looking forward to my ring in about a year. ---

There is a similar [group](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Engineer) in the US that uses smooth, stainless steel rings, but it is not as popular as the Iron Ring groups in Canada (which rarely use actual iron rings). I got mine less than 5 years ago and it already doesn’t fit. ---

People who work with radioactive materials with their hands get fun little dosemetry rings to wear at work. We get new ones every month, some people twice a month if their position calls for it. ---
