Sure, this seems easy enough.

> Maybe it has to do more with general confidence? And I have noticed that when I put on my death stare of hate, men tend to stay away more. So it might have to more with '“aura” than hotness.

The death stare often works, but sometimes backfires with “Why are you looking to mean?” Grr, specifically so that you wouldn’t talk to me! But yeah, I think you’re right that if you look friendly and approachable, people generally feel more comfortable talking to you than they would others. People frequently, regardless of gender or whether or not they’re hitting on me, approach me to talk. Often some lost person on the street will ask which way to such-and-such building, what time is it, how frequently does this-or-that bus run, or whatever. My former old man was all, “Wait, people just come up to you and ask you shit?” :dubious: Um, yeah. “What the? People don’t just ask _me_ shit.” Perhaps because you look like Suge Knight?

I did just buy some knee-high boots that I’ve yet to break in!

Come on, girls- stick out those tits and wiggle your hips! Stop being so goddamn humble and just say you’re bangable.

Okay, 1) Where’s my boat? 2) Fine, I’m bangable. But all “bangable” really means is not _un_attractive. I will admit to not being unattractive. But hot? No. I might be mistaken for hot if I’m wearing a distractingly low cut top or a short skirt or something, and you don’t pay attention to anything else. I’m pretty that’s why a lot of unhot women do it.

Every girl ever, no matter how unattractive, is told they are pretty many times in their life by people who are well-meaning, indiscriminate, or both. It’s generally meaningless.

Yes, but let’s be honest: hot people generally know whether they’re hot. There’s a difference between some dude telling you how stunning you are while unzipping his pants, and everyone you know telling you that you should be a model.

**MOL** , still working on the boat. You know, tough economic times, etc.

I got a boat. I go sailing in my tub.

It’s all yours MOL, for the right price.

Well…there was a stock market indicator that some Wall Street Guru made up as a joke one time…and then started to see that it might actually be legit.

I can’t remember the name…I think it was the ‘waitress effect’ or the ‘hot woman effect’ or something.

Basically it was that you keep track of all the very hot women you meet during your daily life that are working ‘menial’ jobs such as waitress, cashier etc. especially during economic slumps. The idea was that when the economy upticks these will be the first to escape from the menial jobs based on their looks alone and so signal a rise in the economy.

He had a website for awhile allowing people to input their results and compiled it and kept track over time. I actually used it for awhile and it seemed to have some predictive value (though I can’t be sure). His site disappeared a few years ago and I lost track.

He did post on there that he was influenced by the ‘New York Taxicab Index’ which kept track of the education levels of cab drivers. That Index worked better in the past but has broken down since the 80’s (according to him).

It was called the “hot waitress index.”

> I’ve been told I’m not unattractive though I think I’m one of the insecure attractive people alluded to earlier. So I figured I’d track whether or not I got anything good this week. Free shower gel at Sephora, a free bag of potato chips with my soda and sandwich at the deli, and last Friday the bartender at a bar I was at offered to get me into a club with an expensive cover charge any time I wanted to go. Not bad for someone who rarely gets out! 😃
>
> Yeah, I’m not actually deluded into thinking the potato chips or shower gels are a hotness perk, but the club thing I’m assuming was. I’m pretty introverted. I think I’d get a lot more of those kinds of offers if I left the house once in a while…

I don’t want to bash your ego 😃

I went to visit a friend who lived in Los Angeles. I was there about 3 weeks (I was a teacher at the time). He had a sister and this sister had a 2 roommates & friends.

One of these roommates was hot. Unbelieveably hot. I think I can still say, 20 years later, that she was the most attractive woman I ever seen/met including TV and movies.

She also had a great/flirty personality. She made you FEEL like she knew you existed though you know you had no chance with her.

During the short time I was there and around her…she received 3 diamond/gold necklaces. I think about 4 offers for overseas trips. Several boxes that I didn’t know what was in them. All of them given by men she shot down.

She kept all the presents.

====

Second example was a woman I went to grad school with. She was smart and very hot. I grew to loathe her because of her mercenary attitude.

During second year of grad school she made known that she was trying to get her boyfriend to buy her a Jeep Grand Cheroke as a gift before she dumped him. She said she always tried to get boyfriends to buy her an expensive gift before she dumped them. She had never gotten a car yet and sought it as a goal.

A couple months later she was driving around in a Jeep Grand Cheroke.

====

So Miss Slit…I think to score the big time you have to have all 3 of these:

- Be very hot - small differences in ability make huge differences in results kind of like Pro Sports.

- Be very flirty and personable - you have to ‘work it’.

- Be a very disgusting/amoral person - activily try to manipulate people for your personal gain.

Do all 3 and you are set!

> I think **MeanOldLady** ’s on the right track, breaking perks down into different categories. There are hot women perks, hot/wealthy-looking people perks…Hey we’re the same minority’ perks (my Iranian friends always get this).

I get the attractive/wealthy looking perk, but I also get the “hey, you look like me!” perk. It can only be described by people thinking I am one of “them” - ranging from (half) black to Greek to Italian to Persian to Spanish to Mexican and on and on. I’ve posted in picture threads, but I’ll repost if asked. My skin color and features are common to several somewhat unusual-but-seen-as-cool ethnic groups in the US. Seemingly people feel at ease with me - and it manifests itself in two ways, one, people are willing to do things for me and people generally strike up a conversation with me.

Just tonight at the grocery store, there wasn’t any skim organic milk. I flag down a (male) employee who is clearly busy, who drops what he’s doing after I flash a big, sweet smile. Ten minutes and a fully torn down dairy case later, I’ve got my milk. I actively seek out men when I “need” something. I’ve had women say it “can’t be done so late at night/need a manager/I have mange” etc etc.

I often get things comped, like if a waiter asks how the food was, and I reply that it was so so, a percentage will be taken off the bill or drinks comped, etc (without me asking for it to be). When I (seldom) go out, I get free drinks, but that’s not a real accomplishment since the guys don’t disappear afterwards.

Most of these things were honed after years of watching my mom, a reasonably attractive woman, be a friendly flirt to getting her way. Just last week she got two mouthguards from the dentist for the price of one.

Obviously the free car things are more than simply being hot; they’re about a pathological attachment to the woman. I know plenty of not-hot women who freeload off of men just the same.

I’ve met extremely hot individuals who do not get told they are hot that often. I always assumed it was because everyone thinks like you do, and assumes they already know it.

Anyways, there’s an easy way to overcome this problem. Have the participants show you their picture, so we know they aren’t hot

MeanOldLady is already in the thread, so I think it’s Freudian Slit’s turn. (And, olive, you’re hotter than you imply.)
