I love ‘Bella’ and I also love that L.G. Butts calls his wife ‘Beauty’. That’s just nice.

On occasion she’ll call me Baron, and I really like it when she does. Usually, though, it is sweetie or honey.

I have called her a lot of silly names over the years, but the only one that has really stuck is Hot-pants.

I call my wife toots and chicken. I don’t remember how chicken came about but she liked it and now we have all kinds of chicken stuff at home (tea kettle, salt n pepper shaker, etc.). Her email address has chicken in it.

When I’m in the mood to annoy her, I call her Al Qaeda. Her maiden name is Mohammed.

“Shmoopy” of course!

In regular, everyday conversation it’s “babe” or “darling” for both of us. When I’m being sarcastic or mocking him for being English (which is often ) I call him “Nigel” or “your majesty”.

It was about 2 1/2 years before I realized when he called me “me-JAY” he was actually calling me “midget” with a mock French accent, like when people pronounce Target as “tar-JAY”. Here I thought it was some romantical term of endearment.

He then started calling me “frogmella” which I thought sounded cute and was maybe the name of a character out of one of his son’s cartoons. It most certainly is not and that name has been permanently retired.

I call him “Cookie”, or “Cookie froggie”. Don’t ask why.

My ex used to call me McClintock. That is neither my first nor last name, it’s not even close, I don’t know who McClintock is. Where did he get that from? I asked him and he didn’t really have an answer. I was programmed in his phone as McClintock. He was indeed a strange man.

</div>

I call her “angel,” “love,” and “sweetie,” in order of frequency. When the conversation is more narrative than amorous, I call her “girlfriend” (as in “Girlfriend, _tell me_ about it!”). Once I called her “Boo” and she looked at me quizzically. “Boo?” I think she hadn’t heard of that one before.

Her favorite endearment for me is “babygirl.”

The last time I answered this question around here, I went for a joke and said “Godzilla.”

This was a mistake.

So now I answer “Light of my Life, Love of my heart, the Center of my existance.” 😃

“Sweetie”, “Babybutt” and, on occasion, [“Miss Hottieknockers”](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=528964).

I generally call The Littlest Briston “Goose”.

The ones we use most are Hon, Sweetie, Handsome, and Gorgeous.

But every now and then, a word or phrase will pop up and I’ll call him that for a day or two. The most recent example is Sex Cookie.

I also like calling him things that end with “-pants”: Sweetiepants, Sexypants, Cutiepants.

Mrs. SMV is “Snorky” or “Snorks”. She used that as an adjective to describe herself once when she had a cold, and I just liked the sound of it. Now I use it so much, I sometimes forget what her real name is.

For reasons lost to the fog of time, we call each other “Dude.” (And yes, we’re a hetero couple. 🙂 )

Sometimes “Doot,” which is a Dave Barry-ism for…poop (such as “cleaning cat doots out of the litter box”).

I guess it’s not really any worse than “poopsy.”

I call him pet, pup, toy, little mouse (he gets squeaky when he’s excited or nervous), love, and sweetheart a lot.

He calls me Miss, Mistress, Princess, beautiful, and baby more than anything else.
