What pointless things do you do just because?

I tap the hood on my car twice whenever I go into the garage, and when I am done driving it and it is in the garage.

Whenever I say the word “laser” I get the strong urge to do air quotes like Dr. Evil.

When I take items from the front of the shelf in the grocery store, I pull the ones behind the items to the front. So everyone can see them better.

I affectionately pat the seat of my bicycle after finishing a ride. She’s a good ol’ girl.

I have a migraine med I take once a month. It comes in one of those auto-injector pens (similar to an epipen). When I first started taking it, I realized that if I toss the entire pen into a sharps container, the container is going to fill up really fast. So, naturally, I took it apart so I could put just the vial/needle in the sharps container. But, what I’ve been doing ‘just because’ is saving the springs. It varies from brand to brand, but they mostly all have two or three springs in them. I now have probably 100+ springs sitting in a pile next to a sharps container. It’s one of those things I just randomly started collecting with no need for them. And the current auto-injector I use could probably go directly in the garbage since the needle retracts far enough back into the mechanism that no one’s going to get stuck by it if they’re rifling through my trash.
I could probably throw them out, but then I’m certain I’ll suddenly have a need for 100+ springs.

I work in a grocery store and have to actively stop myself from doing that kind of thing when I’m shopping. But kudos for not being one of those people that insist on grabbing the second or third one back and knocking over the front ones in the process.

Yeah, I think once you’ve worked a job where you have to front the shelves, it’s just second nature!

After working retail jobs, I also check the bar codes on some items to see if they match the codes on a price tag.
