For me it was the legendary, Where did “Nuke 'em from orbit” come from?, thread which swiftly degenerated into one long list of Aliens quotes as applied to a message board. I still re-read it occasionally when I need a laugh. Sorry I don’t have a link, anyone else, what thread convinced you to sign-up? ---

For me, it was probably a GD thread about religion and/or the existence of God. I was really into debating that topic back when I was in high school - not so much anymore; I think I’ve heard virtually every argument for each side. ---

I can’t find the link now, (it’s amazing how many posts have the words “dead dog and pool” in them) but it was a thread where someone was asking for help because he woke up one day to find a dead dog floating in his pool. He came here to ask for some advice on how to remove it. As soon as I read the thread, I knew I had to join just in case something equally unexpected happened to me and I had no idea where to turn for advice.
