# What qualities/abilities must a racing car driver have to be fast?

I once did an article for a motorcycle magazine on how top level bike racers prepared themselves for races. During research for the article I talked to a lot of racers and was fortunate enough to be able to speak briefly with Mick Doohan (at that time world 500cc champion).

The same story came through from all of them: Riding fast and winning races was a **confidence** thing.
