I put site:straightdope.com queen elizabeth purse into Google. site: is the code for limiting searches to that specific URL. Make sure there’s no space after the colon or else you’ll get a lot of extraneous hits. ---

Can’t recall where I read it, but apparently the Queen can give coded signals to her staff by what she does with her bag. Way she holds it or places it down. Not sure if it was real information. ---

A lot of horse owners carry sugar cubes & carrots. They give them out at the stables. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Queen has a few horse treats in the purse she carries at horse races. ---
