I have a new verse in an old rant. Oh joy! It started in this old post about an existing store credit card I had that was provided by a name brand bank. Evidently the issuer cuts a very advantageous deal for the merchant and makes up the difference against the consumer. Unlike that store card I substantially never use, I buy gasoline about every 10 days. And I’m disinterested in switching stations or brands. So if I want their own-card spiff I need to keep using that card. OTOH, if they kill the spiff, I’m so gone. We’ll see.
