Dust Bunnies.

Hoards and hoards of them. Multiply like, well, rabbits. Mostly in not-so-easily accessible spots. Boogers.

We recently pulled up a houseful of carpeting to find absolutely beautiful hardwood floors. There are a few flaws, but for the most part it’s **gorgeous**. We were really apprehensive about doing away with the carpeting, what with not knowing the condition of the floor underneath, but to our delight there’s even special _designs_ in the flooring. It looks quite unique and when it’s clean - I love it.

Yet, in the deep neuroses of my psyche, I want carpeting back. These dust bunnies are driving me nuts. I had to banish the cat to the garage because she sheds sooo much, and that, combined with the dirt that two small boys create, is overwhelming.

I get angry looking around at the mess and blame my living-room rug. Stupid rug, made of wool and all sheddy. I speculate I could vacuum three times a day and it still wouldn’t stop.

Damn dustbunnies. Any tips on how to kill large dustbunnies with minimal effort? I’d love to shoot them in their corners with a watergun, but then they’d prolly just get moldy. bastards.

Truly M & P. Thanks for listening.

Having had wall-to-wall carpeting for most of my life, I was a little overwhelmed when I first moved into an apartment with woodflooring. Between the 2 cats and everyday dust, we decided we actually had dust-rhinos.

Then I realized that all that dust and fur had always been there, it’s just that it was hiding in the carpetting before. Yuck. We bought ourselves a good [dust mop](http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=44057-1738-064CRKS-13&lpage=none) (we considered attaching a cat to a handle, but dropped that idea) and just ran it around the corners and edges every couple of days. Shake it out in the yard, and away you go.

As the delicious one said, it’s startling to see how much dust is firmly held by carpet when there’s no carpet.

The wood floors certainly aren’t creating the dust bunnies. If you like wood, you just have to be a bit more vigilant at chasing them away. Or put carpet back and live with all that dust under your feet.
