> Adults who live at home with their parents

You need to blame the parent on this one as well. I know more than a few parents who, for whatever reason, discourage their adult kids from actually entering adulthood. If you didn’t grow up with the expectation that you would have to support yourself by the time you reached, say, 20, it’s going to be hard to figure that out on your own.

Other than that, I agree with you completely.

My judgmental thing: People who turn the TV on in the morning out of habit and just leave it on all day. Seriously, I would rather live with a smoker than someone who had to have the TV on all the time. And you bet I think less of you. Anyone who finds the annoying yammering of daytime TV better than silence is messed up IMO.

People who say they’re praying for me or for others. If you’re so sure it works, why is there a need to announce it?

Men who wear dress shirts where the collar is a different color from the shirt.

Makes me want to punch them in the dick.

Ditto anyone who walks around with their jacket collar sticking up when there isn’t a blizzard outside.

Does that hold true for kids who are still in school in their hometown? Lots of my friends are Master’s students living at home, so they don’t go even further into debt than they already have to for their program.

Actual contribution: “it’s so cold out! And they say that global warming is a problem. Hah!”

Until you mentioned this, I didn’t realize I also have strong feelings about this. It smacks of douchery somehow.

Similarly, attorneys who habitually use “Esq.” after their name, other than on a court document, a name plate, or other location where the fact that the person is an attorney is actually relevant. I’m talking about people who sign their checks “Bob Smith, Esq.” Get over yourself.

Liberal Arts?

Where I went to school, engineering degrees take five years. The only way to do it in four is to have a ton of the right AP credits and take a full load each summer.

People that max out their credit cards because they just **have** to have a whiz-bang new Hi-Def TV, a new computer every year, eat out at fancy restaurants every week, and then bitch about how the credit card companies are so horrible for charging them massive amounts of interest. Yes, credit card interest rates are excessive, but guess what; in the large majority of cases people wouldn’t have to pay those horrible credit card companies great gobs of interest if they were sensible in the first place about buying things only when they had the money to pay for them!

Yeah, the parent definitely has some responsibility. I’ve seen parents heavily contribute to their own child’s death by nature of enabling their destructive and irresponsible behavior.

For the record, I live with my parents, took 8 years to graduate college (a change of major and my utter stupidity WRT basic algebra had a lot to do with it), and I honestly thought it was acceptable to leave my cloth napkin on the plate after a meal. Flame away.

I think less of people who wear socks with sandals, especially if the socks are white. Also if they wear pajama bottoms in public. What, you couldn’t wait to go to the market and jumped into the car as soon as you rolled out of bed?

Really stupid and petty of me: men who wear bow ties. Due to some bad personal experiences, it’s hard for me to shake the visceral reaction that “bowtie=pompous asshole.”

Less stupid of me: parents who don’t vaccinate their children. Especially since such parents also seem hellbent on making sure their kids consume only organic foods and never, ever watch TV. You’re more worried about Susie seeing an episode of “Sesame Street” than you are about her being hospitalized for whooping cough?

Adults who wear white socks with non-athletic clothes. I know, this isn’t really a stupid thing. I just hate it.

People who use baby-talk or use cutsie malapropisms. As soon as either of these things show up in conversation, a fraction of my brain cells self-detonate.

This is a very petty thing: People who laugh really loud at things that aren’t that funny. I like to laugh as much as the next person, and I have a tendency to say and do things that make others laugh, whether that was my intention or not. But there are some jokes or situations that call for a smile or a giggle rather than a ROTFLMAO!!! I have a hard time believing the response is genuine when it’s that over the top, and I can’t help but question that person’s intelligence.

Yeah, but usually in that sort of program you can pick up a second degree (or double major, which is what I assume was meant by "2 degrees) in math or CS within that same five years with just a little tweaking of your electives.

I think you’re supposed to leave it on your chair if you’re coming back and on the table when the meal is over.
