That moron on Friends…‘How YOU doin’?’ bad enough, but I have heard it over and over ad nauseam a billion times and places since. It has a life of its own, like ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Have a Good Day’ or a waiter asking ‘How is everything here?’ ---

Something that people no longer do - of which I’m so _freaking righteously_ glad for - (I believe MASH’s Hawkeye was the last to do so) is to accompany a quip with the ole Groucho cigar-ash flick and eyebrow dance. ---

Redlettermedia has my favorite TV Show: Best of the Worst They watch, joke about, and then discuss three terrible movies. Then, they pick the best of the worst. Fun show, a lot of great comradery, and I laugh all the time. However, any time a movie with David Carradine comes up, they go on about “Did you know he died from autoerotic asphyxiation” and make jokes the entire time about it. I know it is in poor taste, but one quick joke or reference would be not actually that bad. They watched a movie where he put a noose around his neck and let’s be honest, it’s hard not to think about his death when you see that. However, they kind of harp on it to the point of both my wife and I saying, “Move on! We get it!” ---

We get it!” Sounds similar to RiffTrax - 3 performers / writers from the bygone MST3K who do comedy riffing on movies, minus all the space kidnapping shtick, which is perfect- I always thought the ‘space skits’ were the weakest part of MST3K. But warning: If you don’t like those jokes, DO NOT watch any RiffTrax-ified versions of David Carradine movies. ---

Colbert has no rapport with his musical band leaders, either Jon Batiste or the new guy. Maybe it’s them, maybe it’s Stephen, maybe it’s only me. Whenever the camera pans over to the guy it’s awkward and uncomfortable for me second hand. ---

I think Jon was just awkward. He was just in his own head. But you’re right, he has zero chemistry with the new guy. I watch the show a day later, taped, and ffw through the interaction with the band. ---

Why is the camera on this guy now? Why does the host care what he thinks? It would be different if they were long time friends and we could tell that by their exchanges, but they aren’t and it feels forced and strange. It worked for Letterman and Shaffer, O’Brien and Andy, here not so much. ---

I’m not sure if this falls within the purview of the spirit of this thread but that stupid reality show ‘Impractical Jokers’ is annoying inane beyond belief to me. People I know are always trying to get me to like it but I just can’t stand it, even as, especially as background. Aside from the irksome idea of “best friends” trying their damnedest to embarrass/humiliate each other ( some friends! ) there is the incessant laughing. Laughing at the victim, laughing at their own jokes. Laughing laughing laughing. It’s like a fucking nuthouse. ---
