I have a Playstation and so far, I’ve only played RPG games like Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, and Vagrant Story. Well, Christmas is coming and I’d like to get a more fun game that doesn’t have a story(or atleast much of one). I am thinking of a racing game, fighting game, sports game, or really anything that is lots of fun. It doesn’t need super great graphics, just has to be run. Good playability. I’m open to any suggestions. Gush here if you have a favourite that I absolutely have to ask for. Thanks. ---

For a simple, not-too-complex game that is still fun, try Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. There’s also three Spyro the Dragon games. I liked the 2nd one better than the 1st and my GF is currently playing the 3rd one (Spyro: Year of the Dragon) and she loves it. Sports games depends on what sport you like. I love baseball and play Triple Play 2000 (need to get TP2001 in a few months) almost constantly. My favorite part of this game is that you can create your own player, name him after anyone you want (I feed my ego and name him after myself), choose the position, number, left- or right-handed, skill attributes, batting stance, and pitching style if your player is a pitcher. So right now, the 2nd baseman for the St Louis Cardinals is me. Too bad the announcers aren’t programmed to pronounce the name you enter in there. ---

There are only two things you need to know. 1. **Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2** rocks the house. 2. **Driver** (and possibly **Driver 2** , though I have not played it) is also great. ---

Mortal Kombat is a lot of fun to play- cool graphics, music, and special moves. You can play one on one, against the computer, or in practice mode with an opponent that doesn’t fight back (my favorite) I also love my Ceasars Palace casino game- craps, slots, etc. Jedi Battles is also a great game- not much of a story at all, but fun fighting and neat moves- all different levels with gorgeous graphics and exciting music. Very true to the movie as far as the graphics go. I also like Jet Moto and Coolboarders for mindless fun. Zette ---

**Ape Escape** I’ve also been playing too much **Harvest Moon: Back to Nature**. Also, my favorite sports game ever was **Bottom of the Ninth**. The original mind you. The '97 and '99 versions were ok, but they do the automatic lock on which makes it easier. ---

Well if you’re a hardcore football fan either NCAA football 2001 or Madden 2001. NCAA isn’t very good this year, but you build “dynastys” and recruit players. In Madden you can play a “franchise” with a team and sign free agents to contracts (w/ the limit of the salary cap), trade players and draft picks, and draft players. The franchise will last for 30 (virtual) seasons. So it has good replay value. It keeps career and single game records. Its the best football game out there. As for a fighting game, Bushido Blade 2 is pretty sweet. Its a “real” fighting game. None of this get hit 50 times untill you die. You are a Bushido warrior and you have to fight people with swords, so if you get hit once, you’re dead. ---

I don’t use my Playstation much anymore (just Sega now), but my favorite game for that system is **Syphon Filter**. I heard the sequel isn’t as good though, so go for the first one. **Driver** was really good too. ---

Well I’m currently scaring myself silly playing _Alien Resurrection_ and having a ball killing lots of Nazi’s in _Medal of Honour II_. I’d recommend both these games. You really need to get _Gran Turismo I or II_ which are the best racing games out there. ---

I have a multitap, so I get all the fun of up to 5 players (8 with 2 multitaps), and one of my fav games to play with my friends is Blast Chamber. 4 people with bombs strapped to their chests compete to stay alive the longest (or die the fewest number of times). This is done by keeping a crystal. If you have the crystal, your time clock doesn’t count down. You can also put the crystal in your “goal” to put more time on your clock, or put it in other peoples goals to reduce their time. This is all played in a 3d screen room. This room can be rotated 90 degrees, or sometimes 180 degrees (some levels), and it gets crazier and crazier as things go along. Really fun, believe me ---

A few from my personal library…Crash Team Racing. Basically Mario Cart but 100x better. Another fun one is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Side scrolling adventure game, which one of the best games out there. Twisted Metal 2 is great too. ---

The ones I’ll list have probably already been mentioned, so consider this another vote of confidence for these titles. [list][li] **Syphon Filter** - The best action game out there. A great mix of shoot-em-up action missions mixed with stealthy sniping-your-enemies-from-the-shadows missions. A total blast. And it’s under $20 now.[/li][li] **Gran Turismo** or **Gran Turismo 2** - The best racing games out there for the Playstation. GT2 is incredibly deep, with tons of different race courses, a rally mode, and over 300 different cars to buy or win, all of them licensed game versions of real cars. The 1969 Ford GT40 is my personal fave. Also under $20.[/li][li] **Driver** - Insanely fun. You get to drive around smashing into everything in your path while running from the cops. The mini-games are the best part, especially Pursuit (you try to catch a fleeing car and smash it until it is undrivable) and Survival (you try to outrun and outdrive a mob of cop cars bent on smashing you into rubble. If you last more than a minute, you’re stylin’). $20 here too.[/li][li] **Spyro the Dragon** and **Spyro 2** - These are really fun games. They are kind of cutesy in a Mario kind of way (I originally got them for my son), but they are really addictive. And the graphics and gameplay are top-notch for the PSX. Both are under $20.[/li][li] **Soviet Strike** - An older game, so it might be hard to find. I got mine on a clearance rack at Target for $15. Awesome game. You fly an attack helicopter through a bunch of missions and blow up stuff. Good solid guy game.[/li] **Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater** - Addictive beyond description. It’s under $20 too. ---

For fun, addictive, non-RPG: try the Bust-a-Move games. You basically shoot colored balls at a descending wall of balls. If your shot sticks where at least two of its matching color are, all of them pop, and any balls attached soley by them fall. That’s it. But it’s @!#?@! addicting! ---

I would have to second the Bust-a-move addictiveness vote, but for sheer playability and swearing inducing games Bomberman would get my vote. Especially if you have a multitap. And flatmates. Hours of fun. ---
